application:

Ertapenem is indicated for the treatment of patients with the following moderate to severe infections caused by susceptible strains of the bacteria listed below.

(1) Secondary abdominal infection: caused by Escherichia coli, Clostridium difficile, Eubacterium tarda, Peptostreptococcus, Bacteroides fragilis, Bacteroides gibsoni, Bacteroides ovatus, Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron or monomorpha Caused by Bacteroidetes.

(2) Complex skin and appendage infections: caused by Staphylococcus aureus (only strains sensitive to methicillin), Streptococcus pyogenes, Escherichia coli, and Peptostreptococcus spp.

(3) Community-acquired pneumonia: caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae (referring only to penicillin-sensitive strains, including cases with bacteremia), Haemophilus influenzae (referring only to β-lactamase-negative strains) or Moraxella catarrhalis Caused by cocci.

(4) Complicated urinary tract infections, including pyelonephritis: caused by Escherichia coli or Klebsiella pneumoniae.

(5) Acute pelvic infections, including postpartum endometritis, abortion infections and post-obstetric and gynecological infections: caused by Streptococcus agalactiae, Escherichia coli, Bacteroides fragilis, Porphyromonas glycolytica, digestive chain caused by Coccus or Prevotella spp.

(6) Bacteremia. Studies have shown that in the treatment of complicated urinary tract infections, ertapenem is more effective than ceftriaxone, and the cost of treatment is lower.
